Sauna Etiquette, Lagom
By saltlake · March 25, 2026
Lagom is a Swedish word meaning “not too little, not too much, just the right amount.”
We invite you to practice Lagom in your sauna experience.
Part of what makes PLUNJ the # 1 sauna in Utah is how it’s purposely built for not too many, not too few, just the right about of people.
In a shared, third place it’s important be respectful of one another.
Here’s a few pro tips…
- Soft voices.
- Towel off before re-entering after a cold dip
- Close the door tight (until it clicks)
- Be mindful of personal space, spread out when possible
- Sit on the provided small, black towel
- Be tech-free
In keeping with the Lagom experience, you won’t typically see hosts enforcing these etiquettes directly. Communal means you’ll have people of all different experiences and tastes melting together. Speak up to your group if you have a preference.
However, if at any time you feel like the actions of others is being detrimental to the experience, please advise a host immediately.
With thousands of visitors from all over the world, we’ve seen how a group of strangers can become besties. We’ve also seen how being respectful of others desire for zen, quiet-time can deliver much needed individual respite!
