Natalie grew up in Utah County, and she’s currently in training for a position at a start-up airline. She has two little girls who are her world and who keep her busy.
Before coming to PLUNJ, Natalie had spent time in saunas at the gym or spa. She always loved the feeling of sweating in the sauna – like a cleanse for her pores.
But she was not a fan of cold water.
Needless to say, her first time at PLUNJ was a real challenge! But the host on shift was supportive and helped Natalie calm down her breathing, know what to focus on, and build that emotional/mental strength while enduring the physical “pain”of the cold water. Since coming for the first time, Natalie has continued to learn from the hosts, the regulars at PLUNJ, and her own research.
She has noticed that introducing cold plunging on top of sauna bathing has brought her immense mental, physical, and emotional health benefits.
“The biggest thing I’ve learned is that I can do anything even when my mind is telling me otherwise,” she said. She has now implemented that mindset into other aspects of her life, such as working out.
“I’ve also noticed I sleep better after completing contrast therapy. My depression levels feel more manageable and my anxiety levels have decreased.”
She is glad to have found tools that help her brave and embrace the cold water – which have helped her build resilience and strength in her life.
“The physical, mental, and emotional benefits from contrast therapy far outweigh my fears of cold water!” Natalie said. “I was hesitant at first, but I have come to LOVE the way it makes me feel. Give it a try and push yourself out of your comfort zone. You’ll see the benefits after the first visit.”
